Melita F. Grimes, LCSW
Hello!
My name is Melita Grimes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Delaware. I graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 2015 with a Master of Social Work. I have lived in Delaware for three years but am originally from Virginia.
I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and NTU Psychotherapy. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have worked with older adults who have been abused, neglected, and exploited. Couples who not only struggle to communicate but comprehend and understand each other's perspective. Foster parents who bring children into their home and don't always feel supported or understood.
I understand life can be challenging, emotions are sometimes hard to regulate, and before you know it, you feel like you are no longer in control of your destiny. Many people ask themselves.... Am I making the right decisions? Is it me? Why do things keep happening to me? Will I ever get over the loss of a loved one? How do I cope with my feelings in large crowds? I am not satisfied with where I am in life right now, but I do not know where to start the change. My teen’s mood is up and down, and I cannot take it anymore! My partner and I are not on the same page, I am not sure this is going to work? I have so much trauma and I do not trust anyone to talk about it".
There is nothing wrong with talking to someone who specializes in working with families and individuals who encounter struggles like grief, trauma, anxiety, stress, depression, and self -esteem. I have made it my passion to help people find their way so they can get the best out of life.
There are many ways to do this!! Yes, you may be uncomfortable, but that is where growth happens. You may have to be vulnerable, but that is where leadership begins. Growing into the person you want to be and leading your own life into the direction you choose is a wonderful way to enjoy this experience we call life.
